- For astrophotography on La Palma, you'll need a moderate fitness level. You'll be walking on short, uphill dirt trails and uneven, jagged paths, which can be physically demanding. While the trails are not overly long, they can be steep and challenging, requiring stamina and balance. You'll also need the endurance to spend extended periods outside, carrying gear and hiking to remote, dark sky spots. A reasonable fitness level ensures you can stay active for several hours, especially at higher altitudes where the air can be thinner, allowing you to focus on your photography without exhaustion.
